I overwatered them, underwatered them, bought the wrong soil, and once managed to kill a cactus — which, as any gardener will tell you, takes real effort. But somewhere between the drowned tomatoes and the crispy cactus, I fell in love with growing things.
homegrownnook is where I write down everything I’ve learned so you don’t have to kill your own plants to figure it out. No gardening degree, no complicated science lectures — just real experiments from real homes, tested on actual balconies, windowsills, and patios, then written up in plain English.
You’ll find beginner-friendly care guides, honest product reviews (including the gear I actually use and the stuff I’d skip), and practical troubleshooting for the everyday problems that make plants die.
How we review gear
Sage is the voice of the homegrownnook editorial team — a small group of people who grow plants in real homes and test gear the same way you would. When we recommend a product, it’s either because we’ve used it in our own home, or because we’ve read through hundreds of verified buyer reviews to figure out what actually works and what doesn’t.
